Pajaro Street Grill, Restaurant, Salinas, CA, 93901

HISTORY

Pajaro Street Grill opened in June of 1999 by Deamer and Lisa Dunn, who "tied the knot," the same year. Deamer purchased the building which was Clayton Cleaners for over 35 years. The conversion to restaurant began with the removal of numerous old cleaning machines and equipment. Look for the cleaner memorial near the restrooms and the old clothes dryer in the garden. By buying a building shell we could create a grand open kitchen, central to the dining room. The L shaped dining room allows all diners to have their own space, with all tables having convenient access to service areas and a focal point of the entry. In addition to Marian's spectacular original watercolors, Deamer wanted the restaurant to have something fun and unique In creating "the wall," we were able to solicit contributions from friends, family and other community individuals with items old and new, from near and far. The back concrete buildings house the office and wine cellar. Fragile old wines age gently in the consistent cool environment. Be sure to check out the "Garden Room," a very unique private room. Hopefully you can also enjoy some of the many varieties of herbs and flowers grown throughout the property.

HAPPY EATING!!!!

About the Artist Marian Dunn:

Although comfortable in all media, Marian Dunn has always found the most enjoyment in watercolor. Thus, it has become her primary medium of choice. Individual paintings might show her responses to impressions of an object's contour; a single figure; people at work or at play; the interplay of light and shadow on an object, in a landscape or a still life. Being a colorist, her work is often high-key and cheerful. Being an impressionist, her paintings, while essentially representative, are approached from an abstract perspective.

In addition to being Deamer's Mother, Ms. Dunn has been a professional painter for nearly three decades. Her paintings and sketch books record the observations of a thoughtful, intelligent artist reflecting on life around the world. Her home bases are Salt Lake City and Los Angeles; however, she has a special love for Monterey County. Although she travels and teaches art workshops and seminars world wide, she spends as much time here as possible.
